How to care for snails and what they do for the ecosystem?
A Ramshorn Snail can do a good job keeping a tank clean by eating uneaten food, dead or decaying plant matter, debris, detritus, and soft algae buildup on hard surfaces. A Ramshorn Snail can be seen for hours on end canvasing the tank for edible matter. Ramshorn Snails have the ability to move and bend their rubber-like bodies around very thin plant leaves, dangle from stems and stretch as they move from one hard surface to another. My Ramshorn Snails are fed calcium 2 times a week to help keep colour. A Ramshorn Snail can adapt to a variety of habitats, but they seem to really enjoy tanks with a variety of live plants. Live aquarium plants shed dead or dying plant matter into the water serving as food for the snails. Tanks with live plants are never “too clean”, making Ramshorn Snails a good custodian. A Ramshorn Snail also enjoys a tank with lots of rocks, caves other interesting spots to explore.
Tadpole snails or pouch snails. They eat algae, diatoms and detritus including dead leaves... These snails are common in the North Temperate to Arctic Zones and throughout the Americas, in readily accessible habitats such as ditches, ponds, lakes, small streams, and rivers. They are quite resilient to different temperatures and can live in a tropical fish tank as well as in outdoor ponds.Tadpole Snail can be an interesting addition to a community tank. Snails can be a good match for species tanks as well, like shrimp or snail tanks. A snail can do a good job keeping a tank clean by eating uneaten food, dead or decaying plant matter, debris, detritus, and soft algae buildup on hard surfaces.
As long as conditions are right, they should all thrive without much effort and combined will make a great clean up crew, eating algae and uneaten fish-food. Do not use these as an excuse not to maintain or overfeed your fish. They are additional bio-load so your tank still requires regular maintenance and water changes. All the above applies to the MALAYSIAN TRUMPET SNAILS
